Paul Lawson, associate professor in Botany and Microbiology, recently contributed 14 chapters to the publication of Volume 3, the Firmicutes in Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology. Nine were sole authorship and the remainder co-authored by a number of international scientists. Through the years, the manual has become the most widely used international authoritative work for bacterial taxonomy with all described Bacteria and Archaea being included in this resource.

Graduate Zoology student Emily Remmel won first place in the student poster competition at this year's 30th Annual Governor's Water Conference and 7th Annual Oklahoma Water Resources Research Symposium.
