| FOR
FALL 2003, 116 STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE COLLEGE-WIDE SCHOLARSHIPS
WORTH $171,000. ALL MADE POSSIBLE BY PRIVATE GIFTS.
MANY OTHER STUDENTS WILL BENEFIT BY DEPARTMENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS,
ALSO FUNDED BY GENEROUS DONORS. |
There are four broad areas that private giving supports,
and we invite you to explore meaningful opportunities with
College
staff to meet your needs, as well as the College’s.
Students - Providing
financial assistance to good students who demonstrate financial need is a priority
for OU and the College. Scholarships for undergraduates and graduate students
help keep OU affordable.
Faculty - In times of more than three years without raises,
our outstanding faculty become targets for recruitment from other schools across
the country. Endowed
professorships and chairs provide funds sheltered from changing economic times. On
a more modest level, faculty can be rewarded with funds that support technology,
participation in professional conferences and awards to recognize outstanding
teaching, research and service.
Programs - Funds to enhance programs benefit students and
faculty through enrichment opportunities, including international study programs,
student academic
support services and special research and outreach programs.
Facilities - As technology changes at a seemingly torrid pace,
it is imperative that students and faculty are working in dynamic and contemporary
spaces. Upgrades
to laboratories, classrooms and computer systems are now a never-ending process.
