GEICO RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA’S COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

Norman – The University of Oklahoma College of Arts and Sciences recently named GEICO Insurance the 2007 Distinguished Service Award recipient for their contributions to the college’s students and programs.  The award will be presented at the college’s annual Kaleidoscope Evening, set for Friday, Feb. 23.
The company has teamed with the college to provide students valuable information on career planning, founding scholarships for OU students and placing OU graduates in its employ.
GEICO was established in 1936 as the Government Employees Insurance Company and has been a leader in online auto insurance services. 
Each year, the College of Arts and Sciences honors four alumni will be honored for their contributions at the local, national and international levels during the college’s Kaleidoscope Evening. Recipients of the 2007 College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award are John W. Saunders Jr., representing the natural sciences; Elizabeth Garrett, representing the social sciences; Dick Lowry, representing the humanities; and Barbara Lynn “Lindy” Gans Ritz, representing the professional schools.
