Justin J. Wert

Justin J. Wert received his undergraduate degree at Colorado State University where he graduated cum laude in 1996. He continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania, where he completed his master's and doctorate degrees, specializing in American Politics and Political Theory.

His research interests include Constitutional Law; Jurisprudence; American Political Development; American Political Thought, and he is the recipient of a Fellowship at the Miller Center for Public Affairs, the Lynde & Harry Bradley Dissertation Fellowship, the Alvin Z. Rubinstein Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Institute for Humane Studies Hayek Fund for Scholars and a Teaching Fellowship in the Department of Political Science, University of Pennsylvania.

At OU, he is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science, where he teaches American Constitutionalism; Civil Rights & Civil Liberties; Law & Courts and Introduction to American Politics. While at the University of Pennsylvania, Wert was an instructor for American Political Thought; American Politics; Introduction to the Study of Politics.

Wert has appeared before Republican House members and staff with a presentation on “Employee Free Choice Act” legislation, as well as offering a lecture on “Habeas Corpus & Slavery” at the University Pennsylvania Graduate Workshop Series in 2003.

He is a member of the American Political Science Association, the Midwest Political Science Association, the Southern Political Science Association and the American Society for Legal History.
