Sandman refers to the remains of an individual recovered from a construction project near Woodward in the summer of 1973. Based on a re-analysis conducted in 1998 (funded in part by the College of Arts & Sciences), Sandman was identified as a Cheyenne/Arapaho male in his late 20s/early 30s who lived until the 1830s/1840s. Goods accompanying Sandman when he was buried provide a unique look at Plains Indian culture in the early to mid nineteenth century. The display portrays the analysis of Sandman including a facial reconstruction prior to the reburial of his remains in November 2001.
