2005 Kaleidoscope Evening: A Record-setting Success!
More than 220 people attended the Kaleidoscope Evening February 25 and raised $55,000 to benefit scholarships in the college. The Silent Auction brought in $11,700 of that, with items such as an electric scooter, a week at a condominium in Snowmass and dinner with Merv Johnson and Bob Barry Sr.
As guests entered the ballroom at Oklahoma Memorial Union, they were greeted by Leadership Scholars and escorted into the auction area, where the band Mystery Date was playing hits from the 60s and 70s. Soon, dinner was announced and guests enjoyed salmon and rice, followed by a cupcake with a balloon decorating it for dessert. Edward Brandt, Fred Harris, David Wanser and Thomas Loy were presented plaques and each offered comments as recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Awards. Receiving awards for service that evening were alumnus Peter G. Pierce III and long-time Director of Outreach Vivian Glore. Faculty, staff, students, donors and friends were treated to a wonderful evening of conversation and fun, all for a good cause: scholarship money for students.
