College of Arts and Sciences Announces Distinguished Alumni Recipients and Distinguished Service Award Recipients

The 2006 College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Alumni honorees are George W. Counts, retired clinical professor of medicine at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, who is representing the natural sciences; David Hall, professor at Northeastern University School of Law, representing the professional schools; Clara Sue Kidwell, professor of history and director of Native American Studies at OU, representing the humanities; and Gary D. Sandefur, dean of the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, representing the social sciences.

Distinguished Service recipients for 2006 are Jeanne Hoffman Smith and Jon Withrow.

Spend the summer at Lake Texoma, earning credit for college! The University of Oklahoma Biological Station is accepting applications for summer. Visit their Web site to enroll in one of their many classes.

The Biological Station would like to thank Donna Cobb, Zach, J.C. Cobb, Malon Ward, Chad Hargrave and six volunteer fire departments for stopping a wildfire that threatened the station on Dec. 27th. A big round of thanks for keeping the station from major damage!
