2006 Carl Albert Recipient Named
Emily Shannon Day, a senior majoring in professional physics with a minor in mathematics, who plans to pursue a career as an educator and researcher after earning a doctorate, has been selected as the recipient of the 2006 Carl Albert Award, presented each year to the outstanding senior in the University of Oklahoma College of Arts and Sciences.
Day, who will graduate summa cum laude May 12 with a degree in professional physics and a 4.0 GPA, will be presented with the $2,500 Carl Albert Award at a public reception at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in the Sandy Bell Gallery of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, 555 Elm Ave.

Carl Albert |
Known as the "Little Giant" on Capitol Hill, Albert served as speaker of the house for five years. A great supporter of the college, the award that bears his name was established in 1966 by long-time friend Julian Rothbaum.
