Congratulations to Department of Communication Chair Michael Pfau, who recently received the 2006 Distinguished Article Award from the Communication and Social Cognition Division of the National Communication Association at their annual meeting in November. Pfau also has served as a contributor to the book Public Relations Theory II and co-authored the paper "Examining Media Coverage and Casualty Intolerance for Post-Invasion Iraq," which was recognized as a top four paper by the Political Communication Division of the National Communication Association.
Paul Minnis, professor of anthropology, has been invited to participate in the symposium "Climate Change and Ethnoecology" at the Environmental Change Institute at Oxford University. He is one of three North Americans invited to attend. The symposium examines how indigenous environmental knowledge developed by thousands of indigenous cultures can be useful in dealing with the challenges of climate change and sustainability.
