
Stanley Receives Gusi Peace Prize
Farland Stanley, professor of classics, will receive the Gusi Peace Prize for his work in archaeology and teaching at a ceremony to be held in November in Manila, Philippines.
The president of the Philippine Republic, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, will present the award to Stanley.
Along with his teaching interests, Stanley also is director of the University of Oklahoma Archaeological Expedition to Italy and Crete and the University of Oklahoma Center for Classical Archaeology and Civilizations. He is the president of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America, and is active in the American Schools of Oriental Research, American Philological Association, American Society of Greek and Latin Epigraphy, International Association of Greek and Latin Epigraphy and Classical Association of the Midwest and South.
