Welcome to our New Chairs and Directors

Many departments and programs in the college have new leadership.

Over the past few months, we have seen a change in the College of Arts and Sciences. We would like to welcome the new faces of leadership to the college.

  • In the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, George Richter-Addo is now directing the program, following the retirement of long-time chair Glenn Dryhurst in April. Richter-Addo joined the faculty of the university in 1993.
  • In Film and Video Studies, Timothy Shary is welcomed as the new director of the program. Shary joins OU from Clark University in Worcester, Mass.
  • In Health and Exercise Science, Michael Bemben, C.B. Hudson Presidential Professor of Exercise Physiology, will be the new director of the program. Bemben joined the faculty of the university in 1992.
  • Native American Studies welcomes Joe Watkins to the helm following director Clara Sue Kidwell's retirement. Watkins is an OU alum, and returns to the university from the University of New Mexico.
  • Women's Studies brings Jill Irvine to the head of their program. Irvine has been an associate professor in Religious Studies and in Women's Studies before heading the program. She joined the faculty of the university in 1992.

We look forward to working with all of our new chairs and directors and seeing the exciting new directions they are working towards in their programs.
