Current Arts and Sciences students must be advised every semester prior to
enrolling. This advising should be done in the student's primary major department.
You should call your major
department in October for spring advising, and in
March for summer and fall advising.

Career Planning
Planning for a career after graduation is an important step for students, and the information on this page should prove helpful. More and more companies are interested in hiring Arts and Sciences graduates each year.
Computer Literacy
The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education require students to fulfill
the Computer Literacy Requirement before graduation. This requirement can
be satisfied by completing specific courses or by taking the Computer
Literacy Exam. Any successfully completed online course would also be accepted as fulfilling the requirement. For more information, click here.
OU Commencement and A&S Convocation
A&S Winter Convocation will take place beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 18. For a complete set of convocation instructions, visit the Winter Convocation Web page.
OU Commencement will take place Friday, May 14 at the Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Convocation for graduating A&S students will be announced at a later date. For a complete set of convocation instructions, visit the Fall Convocation Web page.

Dean's Honor Roll
To qualify for the full-time Arts and Sciences Dean's
Honor Roll, you must earn a 3.5 or above GPA in 12 or more
letter
graded
hours. To qualify for the part-time
Arts and Sciences Dean's
Honor Roll, you must earn a 3.5 or above
GPA in 6 or more hours as a part-time
student for two consecutive semesters.
Dean's Outstanding Academic Advising Award
The College of Arts and Sciences and its Advisory
Council on Academic Advising (CASACAA) are accepting nominations for
the Dean's Outstanding Academic Advising Award. The purpose of this
award is to recognize
College advisors who have demonstrated the qualities associated with
outstanding academic advising.
Degree Check
A degree check is an important and necessary step toward graduation. Students are eligible for a degree check once earned hours and current enrollment total at least 90 credit hours. In addition, students must have completed at least 12 earned hours at OU. Please contact our office for an appointment at 325-4411.

Financial Aid

General Education Requirements
An online guide to university-wide education curriculum for the University of Oklahoma. This
curriculum applies to all students who begin their higher education studies in
Fall 1990 and enter the University of Oklahoma Norman Campus that semester or
thereafter.
Graduation Application
Early in your last semester, file an application to graduate with the college's Hobson Academic Services Office. This is critical. Even if you have completed all of the requirements, you cannot be certified to graduate unless you request to be certified.

Scholars
Each year, 20 sophomores, 20 juniors, and 20 seniors, representing
the top 1% of the College's undergraduates, are selected to
participate in a year-long

Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest scholastic honor society,
was founded on December 5, 1776, at the College of William
and Mary.

Student Research and Educational Travel Funding
The College of Arts and Sciences provides funds to support undergraduate and graduate student travel for research, presentation of research, or other educationally valuable purposes. Although the funds available are limited, all students are encouraged to submit proposals to the College.
