Arts and Sciences Scholarship Opportunities

The College of Arts and Sciences offers a variety of scholarships based on financial need and academic performance.  They are available to both undergraduate and graduate students from all Arts and Sciences majors.

Please refer to the detailed scholarship application instructions that precede the application. Applicants are required to submit a copy of their OU-FAN (Financial Aid Notification) for the current academic year.  You may print a copy of your OU-FAN, if your financial aid has been processed, by going to the Financial Aid Services website at www.financialaid.ou.edu.  Click on the “My Financial Aid”  link, log on, click on the “click here” button at the bottom of the “Award” box, then click on the “printer-friendly” button, so your financial need information will be included with the printout.  For those students not currently eligible for financial aid, a statement confirming that a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is/has been submitted for the following academic year must be included with the application materials.  Please also include an explanation of your financial situation. All awards are contingent upon the student showing financial need for the following academic year (via the OUFAN) for which the award applies.

Students must submit one original application packet, along with 4 copies of the packet for each scholarship. The extra copies are given to the scholarship committee members.

All application packets should include, in this order:

  • an application
  • an awards and honors summary
  • an essay (The essay question is listed on the scholarship application instruction sheet)
  • two letters of recommendation
  • an OU-FAN
  • Fall 2007 transcript

Most scholarships require an interview except the Sturgis and Price and the incoming freshman scholarships.

Applicants for the Sturgis and Price scholarships may submit one application packet, but be sure to check both scholarships on the application.

Entering freshmen are only eligible to apply for the Alice Allen Everett American Indian and the J & J Stevens scholarships listed below.  Students must fill out the general OU scholarship application to be considered for these scholarships.  Please visit  www.scholarships.ou.edu.   Please read carefully the criteria for these scholarships as there are other requirements in addition to filling out the application.

Students may apply for as many of the scholarships for which they are qualified, but only one can be awarded.  To view specific scholarship criteria, click on the applicable links below.
