J & J Stevens Scholarship

Minimum Amount - $1,000, based on merit

Criteria - Applicants must be an incoming freshman, currently graduating from high school, and be legal residents of Tarrant County, Texas or the north Texas area.  Applicant’s major course of study must be in the College of Arts and Sciences.  In addition, applicants must be ranked in the top 25% of their high school graduating class, have a high school grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and must have compiled an exceptional record of high school extracurricular activities, including community service and demonstrated leadership abilities.

Additional Requirements:  Two letters of recommendation and a 2-page double-spaced essay answering the following question:  Explain how your high school education (e.g., teachers, courses, books you have read, research or volunteer experiences) has helped you to grow intellectually.  How do you expect your college experience to differ from high school?  Please be as specific as possible.  Please submit the material to Susan Bayliss at:  College of Arts and Sciences, the University of Oklahoma, 633 Elm St., Norman, OK  73019-3108
