Description: This course introduces students to the social and cultural diversity of people in native America north of Mexico.We will focus on culture patterns from European contact until the mid-nineteenth century, and then consider traditional culture among contemporary Native American societies. Specific attention is given to Mohawk, Mi'kmaq, Choctaw, Teton Lakota, Hidatsa, Shoshone, Zuni, Navajo, Pomo, Kwakuitl, Innu, and Inuit peoples.
