Description: Prerequisite: 1113 or permission of instructor. The sociological study of deviant behavior with emphasis on so-called victimless crimes (e.g., drug use) and on normative violations that are not necessarily illegal (e.g., mental illness). Focus is on sociological theories and processes by which behaviors are defined as deviant, and how these definitions affect the individual.
