Nail (4x objective lens)


This low magnification image of a section from a fetal finger shows a fingernail made of highly keratinized cells in the nail plate resting on the nail bed. The nail bed rests on the dermis which is attached to the periosteum of the developing bone. The fold of skin over the nail root is the eponychium.
Stain = H&E.
